Being seen and being heard are not the same thing. A person can be highly visible and still feel unable to name what they need, challenge what is harmful, or shape the decisions around them.

Voice is agency. It is the ability to express a position, defend dignity, ask better questions and participate in decisions that affect your life and community.

Institutions matter because they can widen or narrow that agency. Personal confidence matters because it affects whether people use the opportunities available to them. The two belong in the same conversation.

Leadership becomes more legitimate when it creates conditions in which more people can contribute meaningfully, not merely appear in the picture.
